Abstract
PURPOSE: To make an article recover completely to the original shape before deformation, by deforming an amorphous hih polymer article within a specific temperature range, and by heating it above the glass transition temperature.
CONSTITUTION: An amorphous polymer material, e.g. ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer), PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate), or PVC (polyvinyl chloride), is melt molded into a fastening pin (a), which is then straightened within the range of the glass transition point (TG) to (TG+20°C), and inserted into the fastening hole (C). The pin is then heated at TG or above to make the reverse deformation and to fasten the two boards (d). In the case of PC (polycarbonate), the deformation temperature range is set at TG to (TG+10°C).
