Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the quality of iron oxide by burning a waste hydrochloric acid pickling soln. with a roaster; returning particles such as iron oxide recovered with a dust collector to the above waste soln.; and supplying the particles-added soln. to the roaster to reduce chlorine and hydrogen chloride contained in iron oxide recovered. CONSTITUTION:A waste hydrochloric acid pickling soln. in waste soln. feed tank 1 is pressurized with pump 2, sprayed into roaster 3, and burned. Iron oxide formed by the burning is stored in iron oxide hopper 5 through rotary valve 4. On the other hand, a reactant gas is passed through cyclone 6 to recover iron oxide accompanied by the gas, and the iron oxide-free gas is fed to an absorption tower. The iron oxide collected with cyclone 6 is returned to tank 1 through rotary valve 8 of cyclone hopper 7, stirred 9, and mixed to form a slurry contg. mostly unreacted Fe2O3. The slurry is supplied to roaster 3 and used as nuclei for growing iron oxide particles. Thus, high purity iron oxide of large diameter and low FeCl3 content is recovered.
