Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a quick-operating type miniature high-precision electron gun of low power consumption by eliminating the need of a heating part by composing the electron gun of an anode emitting an electromagnetic wave by electron impulse and a cathode emitting electrons when the electromagnetic wave strikes. CONSTITUTION:After being accelerated by an electric field applied between cathode 2 and anode 1, an electron emitted in a certain method is caused to strike anode 1, from which an electromagnetic wave is obtained through electric-electromagnetic wave conversion. When the radiation from anode 1 is isotropic, 50% of the radiated electromagnetic wave reaches cathode 2. The electromagnetic wave reaching cathode 2 causes cathode 2 to emit electrons. Then, the electrons are caused to strike anode 1. The above process is repeated to multiply the electrons and some of them pass through aperture 5 of anode 1 to form an electron beam. The seed of electrons requires only a few electrons existing naturally.
