Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform the recovery of uranium present in the sea water by utilizing the force of tide current by the procedure in which a floating tank provided with a desorption liquid tank, a regenerating liquid tank, a water-washing tank for U- adsorbent, and then by circulating an U-adsorbent through the sea water and the aforesaid tanks by the force of tide current.
CONSTITUTION: The upper part of the floating tank 10 is provided with the desorption liquid tank 2, the regenerating liquid tank 3, and the water-washing tank 4 for uranium(U) adsorbent, and the U-adsorption belt with a number of blades 9 is rotated endlessly while being circulated through the sea water and a series of the aforesaid tanks 2, 3, and 4 by using the pulley 1 and the rotator 17. In this case, since the floating tank 10 is moored to the sea bottom by the mooring chain 11, the tide current collids with the blades 9 and thereby the adsorption belt 8 is rotated. The adsorbent, composed of the binary hydrate Ti-Fe oxides, is then treated with (NH4)2CO3, Na2CO3, etc., to desorp U in the desorption liquid tank 2, and then substances other than U are desorped by a mineral acid, e.g., hydrochloric acid, etc., in the regenerating liquid tank 3 to regenerate the adsorbent. The adsorbent is washed with water and reused for U adsorption.
