Abstract
PURPOSE: To control emission of an offensive odor due to H2S gas as well as to prevent formation of yellow water by mixing a desulfurization reaction product, into blast furnace slag, which is a by-product of exhaust gas desulfurization using a Ca salt.
CONSTITUTION: To blast furnace slag pulverized to below 0.5 mm is added 0.1W 2.5% as CaSO3 of the above desulfurization reaction product, e.g. a 16.4% slurry contg. a dry component consistig of CaSO3; 63.4% gypsum; 26.4% and CaCO3; 10.2%, and they are mixed. Thus, formation of yellow water is prevented as shown by the diagram, and emission of an offensive odor due to H2S gas can be controlled. The yellow color degree index is represented by absorbance at 350 mm wavelength. When the index is below 0.1, no yellow color is detected with the eye and effluent is considered to be colorless.
