Abstract
PURPOSE:To recover waste heat of molten slag discharged from a blast furnace efficiently through heat exchange, by holding the molten alag once in a molten slag reservoir, equipped with radiation-heating pipe, before it is cooled to a temp. at which it is crushed with water. CONSTITUTION:Molten slag discharged from a blast furnace is held once in a molten slag reservoir 3 before it is crushed with water. The molten slag 1 at about 1,500 deg.C heats water, which flows through many radiation-heating pipes 16 arranged at the upper part of the molten slag reservoir 3, to form steam, which is drawn off in order to recover the heat of the molten slag. The temp. and the level of the molten slag 1 are constantly measured respectively by means of a temp. detector 4 and a level detector 5, and are inputted to a controller 6. Before cooled to 1,250 deg.C or under, which is required to crush with water, the molten slag at a temp. not lower than 1,250 deg.C is delivered to a water-crushing apparatus with the degree of opening of a control stopper 8 controlled by means of a digital ram 7 driven by the controller 6. The molten slag is crushed with water and is used as a substitute for sand, which is used as an aggregate for concrete in civil engineering and construction industry.
