Abstract

The furnace 7 is kept at a higher temperature then that of the heating furnace 9 to prevent devitrification during the spinning. The heating time is controlled by the inside diameters of the conduits 5 and 6 and the crucibles 3 and 4, and the head H. The molten glass surface is controlled to maintain the pressure applied to the nozzle almost constant.
