Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively deodorize, by deodorizing waster water, which has a stench, by the use of soda hypochlorite which is produced when electrolyzing waster water containing a stench, such as mercaptan and so forth.
CONSTITUTION: Waster water from a marine product processing factory, which contains stenchy components, such as mercaptan, ammonia, hydrogen sulphide and so on, is introduced to an electrolyzing bath 1, where a chlorine ion is concentrated to be 15,000 to 20,000 ppm. When it is electrolyzed by a control current of a power source unit 6, an isloated chlorine and a caustic soda are produced at an anode 7a and a cathode 7b respectively, and the two chemicals are immediately reacted to each other to become soda hypochlorite. The soda hypochlorite together-with waster water having a stench if fed to a reaction bath 5 and they shall be sufficiently contacted to a upward stream or a downward stream through the work of partitions 12a and 12b located at the inside of the bath 5. An oxidative resoution of stenchy components can thus be performed and waste can be deodorized.
