Abstract

PURPOSE: In five step rolling mill, a well formed steel plate is provided by shape control such that the lower roll is loaded with a greater than half the total load and the upper roll with less than half load including zero load.
CONSTITUTION: A five step rolling mill having upper and lower work rolls 3 and 4 and back rolls land 2, and a medium roll 5 between the upper work roll 3 and the upper back roll 1 is used for an explanation. A mechanism such as spindle 7 is installed, enabling to supply from the lower work roll 4 or the back roll 2 a force greater than half the total rolling pressure, and to supply from the upper roll a force less than half to zero. When or before rolling operation, the upper roll 3 and the medium roll 5 can be mutually moved in the axial direction, performing shape control of the steel plate in collaborating with a roll bending mechanism. For size compactness, power saving, and better shape control, the upper roll 3 is preferably smaller in diameter than that of the lower roll.
