Abstract

PURPOSE:To make possible controlling of the distance between the end faces of optical fibers as set and prevent the contact of the end faces by providing a stepwise stopper to a part of the taper part of a connector plug. CONSTITUTION:Optical fibers 1, 1' covered with plastic jackets 2, 2' for protection of optical fibers are combined with connector plugs 3, 3' and are opposed via socket 4 having a tapered part 6. After packings 7, 7' are inserted, the connector plugs 3, 3' are pressed in the direction of the optical axis by tightening screws 5, 5'. A stepwise stopper 8 at a right angle to the optical axis is beforehand provided to the tapered part of the connector plugs 3, 3' and socket 4. As a result of this, even if the connector plugs 3, 3' are pressed too strongly with the screws 5, 5', the distance between the end faces of the optical fibers 1, 1' will not become smaller than the preset value, hence the likelihood of damaging the optical fibers through mutual contacting is obviated.
