Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the title sheet cheaply and efficiently by hot rolling an ultra low carbon steel under predetermined conditions, followed by coiling, cold rolling, heat treatment at a predetermined temp., hot dipping, refining and overaging. CONSTITUTION:A steel consisting of C<=0.01%, Mn<=0.5%, Si<=0.02%, P<=0.03%, S<=0.03%, Al<=0.1% and the balance Fe is hot rolled, finish rolled at above 900 deg.C, and coiled at above 650 deg.C. This hot rolled plate is cold rolled, introduced into a continuously hot dipping unit provided with an annealing furnace in the line, soaked at above the A1 point, and hot dipped. The dipped sheet is then refined with a plastic strain giving means in the line so that the yield point elongation is regulated to 2.5-7%, followed by overaging at 200-400 deg.C. The means may be, pref. a tension leveller or a skin pass mill provided with bridle rolls the diameter of which is below 350 times as large as the thickness of the sheet.
