Abstract

PURPOSE: To expand the field where the surface sensor can be used by insulating the surface of test piece by the use of insulation films.
CONSTITUTION: A metal made roller test piece 10 for measuring the pressure or temperature between the contact faces of objects making rolling slide contact is heated to a high temperature in the atmosphere, whereby the surface thereof is subjected to oxide film treatment and is covered with an insulation oxide film 11, after which the sensor part 9a and terminal parts 9b of specified metal vapor deposition film 9 such as of Manganin or other by an ordinary method; thereafter Al2O3 is high frequency sputtered with the sensor part 9a as a center to form an upper insulation film and complete the surface sensor. Thence, like with a strain gauge, the pressure or temperature between the contact faces is measured by using a bridge circuit and an oscilloscope. Then, the metal vapor deposition film 9 is electrically insulated from the metal made roller test piece 10 and the need for mirror-finishing the surface of the test piece 10 is eliminated. Despite the presence of surface roughness or raw material defects, such portions are covered and the intended object is achieved.
