Abstract

PURPOSE: To effectively seperate and eliminate contaminated materials included in waste water which are surfaced and cohered, by immersing given metal electrorodes in waste water including contaminated materials and inorganic nitrate, and by making the most of an electrochemical reaction which is caused when d.c. current is flown.
CONSTITUTION: Metal electrodes, which are composed of an anode plate made of Al or Al alloy and a cathode plate made of the same type of or different type of metal, is immersed in industrial waste water including contaminated materials and inorganic nitrate, or in waste water in which inorganic nitrate is optionally added and disolved. Aluminum hydroxide in a gel condition is produced by flowing d.c. current, which has approximately 10mAW10A/cm2 of current density, to the aforesaid electrodes so that an electrochemical reaction are caused among inorganic nitrate and the electrodes. The aluminum hydroxide absorbing the contaminated materials is surfaced together with electrolytic gas which is sub-produced when reacting. This causes the contaminated materials to be easily and effectively separated and eliminated by means of filtration, etc.
