Abstract
PURPOSE: To avoid dewing of sulfuric acid and prevent corrosion of fins and heating tubes by putting a tube of small size into each heating tube in the vicinity of a SO3-contg. gas outlet out of the boiler feed water heating finned tubes of an economizer incorporated in a contact type sulfuric acid manufacturing apparatus.
CONSTITUTION: SO3-contg. gas 4 is introduced into body 1 of the economizer at about 430°C and cooled to 180W220°C suitable for the next SO3 absorbing process. On the other hand, boiler feed water 9 enters heating tube 5 at 105°C and flows in the countercurrent direction of gas 4 to be heated. In a conventional economizer, the surface temp. of fin metal becomes 120W130 C in the vicinity of SO3-contg. gas outlet part 3 owing to boiler feed water 9 fed at low temp. to dew sulfuric acid. In the exonomizer of this invention, tube 11 is put in each tube 5 at the lower side stage with aluminum foil 12, etc. in-between to raise heat transfer resistance in the tube. Thus, the surface temp. of fin metal can be raised to above the dew point of sulfuric acid.
