Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a stabilized composition of 1,1,2-trichlorotrifluoroethane (R-113) which does not corrode metals, e.g. Zn, by the addition of N-methylmorphaline to a solvent containing R-113.
CONSTITUTION: N-Methylmorpholine is added to a mixture of R-113 and a polar organic solvent, e.g. ethanol, acetone, methylene chloride etc., usually in an amount of 0.01W8 wt. part per 100 wt. part of the afore-said mixture, and if necessary 0.005W0.5 wt. part of nitromethane is also added to give a stabilized composition of R-113. The decomposition of R-113 which causes the corrosion of metals, e.g. Zn., can be suppressed be using the cleaning composition.
USE: The stabilized R-113 (a common cleaning agent) can be used as a cleaning agent for degreasing of e.g. die cast Zn parts of cars (steering parts, key case etc.), die cast Zn relay case, Zn-plated electronic parts, etc.
