Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent attachment of zinc to the surface of a roll and growth of the zinc in overaging of a galvanized steel sheet by using rolls, in an atmosphere of a spevific inert gas, formed by impregnating a base material of mineral fibers with phenol resin. CONSTITUTION:A base material of woven mineral fibers such as asbestos is impregnated with phenol resin, etc. and dried to form a hearth roll. The rolls are set in an overaging furnace kept under an stmosphere of 250-430 deg.C and of an inert gas such as N2 contg. below 3 vol% of oxygen, and a galvanized steel strip is fed between the rolls. By use of the rolls the amt. of zinc picked up on the roll surfaces is minimized, and exfoliation, damage, etc. of the surface layer of each roll are avoided, thus preventing occurence of a defect such as pushing crack on the strip.
