Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the radial beam of a reflex-mirror antenna to scan by externally exciting an array antenna with a phase shifter and a short piece connected to each element. CONSTITUTION:Phase shifter 5 and short piece 12 are connected to each element 4 of the array antenna. The array antenna of the constitution like this is excited spatially by the spherical exciter of a horn antenna or plane-wave exciter 10 of a horn reflector from the outside. This radio wave, received by antenna 4, is reflected by short piece 12 after passing through phase shifter 5, radiated from antenna 4 after passing through shifter 5 again and then passed through reflex mirrors 2 and 3 to form a radial beam. At this time, the radial beam direction can be scan-controlled by varying the shift of phase shifter 5. Further, phase shifter 5 is controlled electrically to attain a high-speed beam scan. Since the excitation is made by one exciter, the constitution of a feeding circuit can be simplified.
