Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an electric dust collector capable of preventing inverse ionization without adjusting water content even in collecting the dust having high apparent specific electric resistances.
CONSTITUTION: Dust collecting electrodes 2a, 2b and 2c are provided in parallel to each other along the inner wall of a casing 1, and several discharge electrodes 3 between said dust collecting electrodes 2a, 2b and 2c. Said discharge electrodes 3 are connected to a high-voltage power source 4 by a voltage controller 5, and high voltage is impressed thereon. The voltage impressed on said discharge electrodes 3 is lowered to a value where corona discharge starts while this impression is repeated periodically. Thereby, discharge current is prevented from flowing periodically, the charge having accumulated on the surface of uppermost dust layer is released periodically, and inverse ionization is prevented so that no humidity adjustment is required.
