Abstract

PURPOSE: To measure the moisture content of the material before weighing and obtain an accurate mixing ratio, by pressing the measuring electrode to the material supplied into a weighing hopper and measuring the electrostatic capacity of the material between needle electrodes.
CONSTITUTION: The material, such as sand, stored in a silo 1 through a conveyor 3 is fed into a weighing hopper 4 by opening a gate 2, and this gate 2 is closed when reaching the set weighing value as being detected by a weighing means. When the material 9 is supplied into the weighing hopper 4 in this way, an air cylinder 8 is operated to press a measuring electrode 7 to the material 9. The central needle electrode 11 of the measuring electrode 7 is connected to the conductor of a coaxial cable 14, while the both side needle electrodes 12 are connected to the external conductors of the cable. When the needle electrodes 11, 12 are pushed into the material 9, since they are connected to a resonance circuit through the cable 14, the resonance will be deviated due to the electrostatic capacity of the material 9. The moisture content is determined by measuring the electrostatic capacity. Thus, the moisture content at the time of weighing may be measured, so that an accurate mixing ratio may be obtained.
