Abstract
PURPOSE: To measure the moisture content of the material before weighing and obtain an accurate mixing ratio, by pressing measuring electrode to the material transferred into the silo and measuring the electrostatic capacity of the material between needle electrodes.
CONSTITUTION: The material, such as sand, transferred by a conveyor 3 is once stored in a silo, and then fed into a weighing hopper 8 by opening a gate 2 to be weighed. A pipe 5 is fitted to the silo in order to protect an air cylinder 6 and a measuring electrode 7 at the time carrying-in of the material. By operating the air cylinder 8 installed in the pipe 5, the measuring electrode 7 is pressed against the material 4. The central needle electrode 11 of the measuring electrode 7 is connected to the conductor of a coaxial cable 14, while both side needle electrodes 12 are connected to the external conductors of the cable. By pressing the measuring electrode 7 against the material 4, the moisture content is determined by measuring the electrostatic capacity of the material, on the basis that the moisture content of the material 4 is proportional to the electrostatic capacity. Thus, by once measuring the moisture content in the silo, an accurate mixing ratio may be obtained.
