Abstract

PURPOSE:To control image forming regions at an arbitrary width and enable image boundary parts to be distinctly copied by overlapping mask members and moving the same synchronously with the advance of a photoreceptor. CONSTITUTION:In the image former of forming electrostatic latent images and obtaining picture images by developing said latent images through combination of charging and exposure on a photoreceptor 1, the light from a light source 30 for controlling the image forming regions is radiated to the photoreceptor 1 through the slit 34 provided so as to match the radiation width (d) of the light radiated to the photoreceptor 1. Mask members 35a, 35b are provided on the optical path of this control light 31 and the arrival of the control light 31 at the photoreceptor 1 is inhibited by superposing both, in which case the charged charges on the photoreceptor 1 remain slightly without being erased but where the mask members do not overlap the control light 31 arrives onto the photoreceptor 1 and as a result the unnecessary picture images are erased.
