Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a control unit for use in running cutter machines wherein the time required to return and stop the movement of a cutting blade is shortened without lowering the precisions of cutting length by making use of a circumferential distance from a blade-standing position to a material-cutting position as an input signal to control the starting time of a cutting machine.
CONSTITUTION: A positin converter device 16 inputs a signal from a position detector 7 and outputs a circumferential distance signal lx from a position P of a cutting blade 5B to a material-cutting point Q. If a material 1 reaches a material detector 4, a switch SW1 is closed, an arithmetic unit 13 carrying out operation for the starting time of a running cutter machine 5 by receiving a circumferential distance signal lx, a material speed signal V, a cutting length establishing signal l1, and lead lag ratio setting signal K so as to control the starting of the cutter machine 5. If cutting of the material finishes, a stop signal generator 17 outputs a stop signal to a driving control unit 15, and the cutter is stopped.
