Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the generation of noises from an intake and exhaust valve system of an internal combustion engine, by forming cap tappet of a driving gear of said intake and exhaust valve in an internal and external double shape, and by applying oil pressure into the space.
CONSTITUTION: A cap tappet shown in the figure is disposed between a cam 1 of a cam shaft 1' opening and closing an intake and exhaust valve 4 and a valve 4. The tappet consists of an exterior cap 5 arranged to a cylinder head 13 and an interior cap 6 housed into the cap 5. Oil is introduced to a space 10 formed between both caps 5, 6 through an oil hole 11, a ring groove 12, a hole 18, a ball valve 16 mounted into a valve housing 15, a hole 20 and a lubricating hole 19. The oil functions as an interference material, and reduces noises from an intake and exhaust valve system.
