Abstract

PURPOSE: A thermosetting high solid-type coating composition having improved operating efficiency without loss of film properties, consisting of melamine resin, a hydroxyl group-containing polyester resin, and a solvent gredient.
CONSTITUTION: A composition consisting mainly of A) a melamine resin which is liquid at normal temperatures shown by the formula (R1 is H, CH2OH, or CH2OR3; R2 is CH2OR3; R3 is 1W4C alkyl group or its mixture), B) a hydroxyl group- containing polyester resin, and C) not more than 80 part by wt. based on the total amount of A) and B) of a solvent ingredient comprising not less than 40 wt.% of a solvent capable of dissolving the ingredients A) and B), having a boiling point not higher than 100°C, a viscosity not more than 1.3 centipoise at 20°C and a solubility parameter not less than 8.9 (cal/mol)1/2. The weight ratio of A) to B is 45:55W10:90.
EFFECT: High solid content can be attained in coating, e.g., spary, without running in an applied liquid coated.
