Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the physical strength of a stator core at the end portion while preventing the local heating thereof by using thicker layered steel sheets at the axial end portion of the stator than the layered steel sheet at axial middle portion of the stator core.
CONSTITUTION: The thickness of layered steel sheet of a stator 1 forming a portion 1b extending from the effective length L of the rotor is made two to three times thicker than that of layered steel sheets forming the middle portion 1a of the stator in order to prevent the local heating due to the leaked flux at the stator end. taking into account the loss occuring at said end portion 1b using values such as the length Ld of said portion and the gap width g whereby the physical strength of the stator core at its end can be maintained even with forming of slits or step and the like to prevent the local heating at said end portion 1b.
