Abstract

PURPOSE: To disconnect a station with its photo coupler in trouble from a transmission line by equipping a slave station, which transmits and receives data to and from a master station via the same transmission line by using a photo coupler, with a method of detecting an abnormal photo coupler.
CONSTITUTION: When the luminous element of photo coupler 5 of slave station 2 shots, data are considered to be received even in a short state since data transmission is negative logic, and timer 10 starts operating via inverter 9. If no reset signal arrives until time (t1) set to timer 10, timer 10 reaches its final stage as shown in the figure and FF11 is set by the rise of its output to operate switching element 8, thereby releasing transmission lines 12 and 13 from the short state. Consequently, the system can be operated without influencing the data transmission between the master station and any other slave station and the reliability of the data transmission can be improved.
