CONSTITUTION: A signal of the speed regulator 1 is fed to the separately excited transducer 5 of the power supply through the current regulator 2, DC output voltage is changed to alter the speed of motor 10, and the torque direction of motor 10 is discriminated by the change-command arithmetic unit 6 to decide an operation mode of the separately excited transducer 9 of the motor. At this time, the output limiting value of the speed regulator 1 is given by the output limiting function generator 13 dependent on the speed, and the input-output characteristic is selected in such a way that the torque is made less with respect to the low speed. Therefore, when the device capacity is determined, only the output corresponding to the speed of the function generator 13 can be considered and the capacity of separately excited transducer of the motor can be made less.
