Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a good-variable density level and good-distinction pitcture by setting the white level value and the black level value of output video signals well when pictures which were subjected to pulse pickup intermittently are line-scanned and outputted.
CONSTITUTION: Signals picked up by pickup init 11 and outputted by line scanning are supplied to AGC circuit 13 through amplifier 12, and this output signal is inputted to ABL (auto black level control) circuit 17. A part of output signals of circuits 13 and 17 is supplied to SH (sample hold) circuits 14 and 15 respectively, and circuits 14 and 15 are operated by sampling signals from timing control circuit 16 which is operated by the input of synchronizing signals from unit 11 and obtains the average value of black and white signals obtained by scanning in regions A and B and holds this value until a picture is scanned throughout one field. The white level signal held in circuit 14 is applied to circuit 13 as a white level setting control signal, and circuit 17 inputs the black level signal held in circuit 15 as a black level setting control signal, thereby controlling the gain level of following video signals.
