Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the measuring accuracy of magnetic flaw detection by an elevator cage rope flaw detector by coating the detecting coil on the entire periphery of the rope and to reduce the rope flaw detecting time and labor.
CONSTITUTION: An elevator cage 1 and balance weight 2 are suspended by a rope 3, which is wound by approx. one and half turn between the drive sheave 4 and the pulley 5 within a machine room 6 to thereby be driven with the rope 3 fixed via a spring 8 to the floor 7 of the room 6 at both ends. In an elevator thus constructed, the detecting probe 9 of a magnetic flaw detector for detecting the flaw of the rope 3 is arranged at the rope 3 of the lower side of the rope 3 wound around the sheave 4 and the pulley 5. Thus, since the space between the ropes 3 is provided, for example, with longer than 20mm, the coil 11 can be coated on the entire periphery of the rope 3 sufficiently to thereby prevent the vibration from affecting it.
