Abstract

PURPOSE: To drive with high efficiency by using one way pulse with better characteristics of thin membrane transistor TET which is obtained by individually applying common voltage to the common electrode of liquid crystal according to the scanning lines of gate electrode.
CONSTITUTION: TET 3 and floating capacity 5 that drive liquid crystal 4 are formed at each intersection of plural number of source electrode 1 and plural number of gate electrode 2 and common electrodes 31 of liquid crystal 4 are formed in the stripe form in parallel with gate electrode 2. As for the picture elements to be written, common voltage is inversely applied to drive VD(ON) without D/C component for drive voltage VD(ON) of TET and is applied write the picture element to be written. For the picture element not to be written, drain voltage VD(OFF) of TFT indicates no electric potential VLC(OFF) as its wave form and polarity become equal to those of common voltage Vc and, then, the phases of source voltage VS(ON), VS(OFF) and gate voltage VG are determined for the odd number frame and even number frame, thus ensuring no writing.
