Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to reduce flickering, and also to rewrite a memory without synchronizing with a raster scan, by temporarily intermitting a video output when writing or reading data to or from the display memory.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of access from a CPU to display memory MEM, selector SEL is changed over by select signal Al4(d) to supply address lines A0 to A8 as address of MEM. Since unneeded data are outputted from character generator CG [output waveform (a)] at this time, however, signal Al4(d) is passed through inverter (i), capacitor C1 and resistance R1 to obtain waveform (b) and the signal of waveform (b) is then inputted AND gate (g), where character pattern signal (a) from CG is eased for period VDO.OFF longer than memory access period MACSS, and outputted from gate (g), thereby removing unneeded data. No inneeded flickering will therefore appear on the screen in this period.
