Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the catalyser material from damage caused by a dancing motion in the cylinder due to a vibration, by means of tightly supporting the catalyzer material of honey-comb type, using a buffer ring and a ring retaining material, without providing a looseness in the catalyzer converter main unit.
CONSTITUTION: A buffer ring 4, intermediately installed for mounting a catalyzer material 3 of honey-comb type, causes no unnatural difficulty in the mounting support due to its elasticity, and absorbing a thermal expansion of the catalyser 3, with no clearance made generating between with a ring retaining material 5, simultaneously, the buffer ring 4 is always pressed at a constant load diametrically and axially by the retaining material 5. Consequently, even for the converter vibrating, the catalyzer 3 never makes a big dancing motion in a cylinder 1, capable of preventing the catalyzer 3 from damage. And the retaining material 5, because of applying a preliminary load to the buffer ring 4 as well as serving a role of the mounting material for the converter main unit cylinder 1, can be made small for the requirement regardless of a length and sectional pattern of the catalyzer 3. Accordingly, the work of drawing of the retaining material 5 will be facilitated.
