Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable high pressure resistance and high tightness of feed-through for submarine repeaters to be maintained by providing a metal film on the optical fiber surface of the through-portion and oxidizing the surface thereof if necessary then filling sealing material. CONSTITUTION:A vapor deposition film 12 of metal is provided on the surface of an optical fiber 11 of the portion corresponding to the feed-through and further an oxide film 15 is provided on the surface thereof. A plastic sealing part 14 composed of plastics such as polyethylene or other is filled between said films and a pressure resistance housing 13 composed of beryllium steel or other. Such constitution improves the adhesiveness to the plastic sealing part 14 and enables sufficient pressure resistance and tightness to be secured in the pressure-resistant structure feed- through.
