Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate malfunction and permit detection of the inter-layer short-circuit by using an equation which holds at the time of the inrush and also in the mormal state.
CONSTITUTION: The current and voltage measured on the primary and secondary sides by an instrumental current transformer CT and an instrumental voltage transformer PT are sampled and held in a sampling and holding circuit SH. The output of the sampling and holding circuit SH is coupled to an analog-to-digital converter circuit AD for conversion from ananog value into digital value before it is supplied to a digital operational unit MDP. The digital operational unit effects operation by using an equation, which holds irrespective of any external trouble and does not hold in case of a trouble within the transformer, and when it determines a trouble it supplies a trip signal to a circuit breaker DB.
