Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the accuracy of a system for identifying the fault point of a transmission line by employing the voltage and current values of a transmitting end of the transmission line and the current value transmitted from remote end of instantaneous digital values sampled at the voltage and current of the transmission line at predetermined period used as a main protection of the line.
CONSTITUTION: The instantaneous voltage and current values of the transmission line obtained at sampling at the transmitting end are temporarily stored in a temporary memory 11. An arithmetic processor 12 reads the data temporarily stored in the temporary memory 11 simultaneously upon occurrence of a falult, and calculates the fault point distance by employing the data and the line constant value of the transmission line. A comparison convergent processor 13 compares and converges calculated fault point distance several time to thus produce the result to a display unit.
