CONSTITUTION: Nuclear fuel element contains a plurality of sintering pellets 2 made of ceramic nuclear fuel powder such as uranium or a mixture of uranium and plutonium within sheath tube 1, comprizing configuration sealing both ends of sheath tube 1 with plugs 3 and 4. The movement of axial direction of pellet 2 is prevented with spring 5 provided in the plenum chamber 6. Helium gas is filled in the clearance between pellet 2 and sheath tube 1 and plenum chamber. Then, on providing plating layer 11 of palladium for the inside of sheath tube 1, hydrogen sealed within nuclear fuel element once acts solid solution with palladium and reacts uniformly with adjacent zirconium alloy to transfer to outer surface.
