Abstract
PURPOSE:Chloride composition flux is mixed with a specified amount of LiF or LiF and other fluoride, then combined with Zn base brazing material, thereby improving the wettability of the brazing material to provide uniform brazing of Al material. CONSTITUTION:Chloride composition flux containing 4 to 20% of LiF only, or a mixture of fluorides such as LiF, KF, NaF, etc., or preferably 4 to 10% of LiF is used together with an intermediate brazing material containing 50% or more of Zn. This process is characterized by an improved flowability in Al or Al alloy brazing that is achieved by adding a special amount of LiF, etc. to badly flowable intermediate brazing material with melting point of 400 to 500 deg.C. As such, the composition offers jointed zone free of pinhole or other faults when Al sheath heater and Al fittings are to be fixed to Al plate.
