Abstract

PURPOSE: The fuel B is ejected from a nozzle 3 , and the air A is blown through a path between a nozzle pipe 1 and a wall 5 and mixed with the fuel 3. A movable electrode 4 is mounted on a support shaft 17 which is moved in the directions as shown by the arrows with the action of an electromagnet 7. When the support shaft 17 is moved in the direction of a solid line arrow, the movable electrode 4 is brought into contact with a stationary electrode 2. When the electrodes 2 and 4 are separated from each other, an arc is procuced between the electrodes 2 and 4 whereby the fuel-air mixture delivered from the nozzle 1 is ignited. Because the movable electrode 4 first contacts and then disengages from the stationary electrode 2, the discharge failure can be prevented and the arc can be elongated, which in turn ensures reliable ignition.
