Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency of photoelectric conversion by providing a recess with tapered lateral surfaces on the light receiving face side of a semiconductor substrate, forming a light receiving surface layer to form a barrier with the substrate on the tapered surfaces of this recess and using this light receiving surface layer as a light receiving face thereby letting the light reflected on one of the tapered surfaces of the recess reenter the other tapered surface.
