PURPOSE: Process of attaining economical heat recovery to exhaust gases by use of a compact device by which the flow of exhaust gases from oil burner boilers containing a small quantity of sulfuric anhydride and ammonia is conducted through a heat exchanger while gases to be heated are conducted outside the exchanger in parallel to the flow of exhaust gases, subsequently the two flows are joined.
