1291317 Hydrazones PENNWALT CORP 19 Aug 1970 [27 Aug 1969] 39944/70 Heading C2C Tertiary hydrazones are prepared by reacting, in a substantially aqueous medium, compounds of the formulµ and R 4 -CO-R 5 , where R 1 is C 1-8 alkyl, phenyl or cycloalkyl having 3-12 carbon atoms in the ring, R 2 and R 3 are C 1-8 alkyl, or R 1 -C-R 3 is a cycloalkylene group having 3-12 carbon atoms in the ring, or (R 1 R 2 R 3 )C is a bicycloalkyl or tricycloalkyl group wherein the C atom in the formula is a tertiary atom, R 4 is H or C 1-8 n-alkyl, R 5 is C 1-14 alkyl, cycloalkyl having 3-12 carbon atoms in the ring, phenyl, naphthyl, hydrocarbon substituted phenyl or naphthyl, or any of such radicals substituted by OH, OR 6 , OOR 6 or COOR 6 except that when R 4 is alkyl then R 5 cannot be a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl or naphthyl radical, R 6 is C 1-8 alkyl, or R 4 -C-R 5 is a cycloalkylene group having 3-12 carbon atoms in the ring, which group may be substituted by OH, OR 6 , OOR 6 or COOR 6 .
