Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.0度に配向された直線偏光を受け入れ、かつ同受け入れた光を角度β回転さ せる色消し偏光回転子スイッチであって、 前記直線偏光に対してα1=β/4+(−1)nε−nπ/4で配向された第1 の半波長位相子と、前記nが非負の整数であり、前記εが小角であることと、 前記第1の位相子に連続して配置された第2の半波長位相子と、同第2の半波 長位相子が前記直線偏光に対してα2=3β/4−(−1)nε+nπ/4で配向 されていることと、 前記複数の位相子のうちの一方は受動位相子であり、他方は回転可能な液晶位 相子であり、同回転可能な液晶位相子はπ/2の第2の配向まで前記受動位相子 に対して回転可能であること を含む色消し偏光回転子スイッチ。 2.0≦ε≦5度である請求項1に記載の回転子スイッチ。 3.0≦ε≦3度である請求項2に記載の回転子スイッチ。 4.β=90度である請求項1に記載の回転子スイッチ。 5.前記液晶はSmC*液晶であり、α1=π/8+εであり、α2=3π/8− εである請求項4に記載の回転子スイッチ。 6.0≦ε≦3度である請求項5に記載の回転子スイッチ。 7.β=45度である請求項1に記載の回転子スイッチ。 8.前記液晶はSmC*液晶であり、α1=−3π/16−εであり、α2=7π /16+εである請求項7に記載の回転子スイッチ。 9.0≦ε≦3度である請求項8に記載の回転子スイッチ。 10.前記液晶はSmC*、SmA*、ディストーテッド・ヘリックス・フェロエ レクトリック及びアキラルCSLCからなるグループから選択される請求項1に 記載の回転子スイッチ。 11.前記液晶はSmC*液晶である請求項1に記載の回転子スイッチ。 12.前記受動位相子は延伸ポリマー位相子である請求項1に記載の回転子スイ ッチ。 13.前記受動位相子はポリマー液晶位相子である請求項1に記載の回転子スイ ッチ。 14.請求項1に記載の回転子スイッチと、同回転子スイッチの前方に配置され 、かつ0度に配向された第1の直線偏光子と、前記回転子スイッチの後方に配置 された第2の直線偏光子とを含む色消しシャッター。 15.前記第2の偏光子は第1の偏光子に対して平行配向または直交配向されて いる請求項14に記載の色消しシャッター。 16.β=90度である請求項15に記載の色消しシャッター。 17.前記液晶はSmC*液晶であり、α1=π/8+εであり、α2=3π/8 −εである請求項16に記載の色消しシャッター。 18.0≦ε≦3度である請求項17に記載の色消しシャッター。 19.0≦ε≦5度である請求項16に記載の色消しシャッター。 20.0≦ε≦3度である請求項19に記載の色消しシャッター。 21.前記液晶はSmC*、SmA*、ディストーテッド・ヘリックス・フェロエ レクトリック及びアキラルCSLCからなるグループから選択される請求項16 に記載の色消しシャッター。 22.前記液晶はSmC*液晶である請求項16に記載の色消しシャッター。 23.前記受動位相子は延伸ポリマー位相子である請求項16に記載の色消しシ ャッター。 24.前記受動位相子はポリマー液晶位相子である請求項16に記載の色消しシ ャッター。 25.前記第2の偏光子は偏光ビームスプリッターである請求項16に記載の色 消しシャッター。 26.前記液晶位相子はマルチピクセル液晶位相子である請求項16に記載の色 消しシャッター。 27.請求項16に記載の色消しシャッターと、前記回転子スイッチ及び第2の 偏光子の間に配置された第2の受動位相子とを有する偏光干渉フィルタ。 28.前記第2の受動位相子は第1の偏光子に対して±45度で配向されている 請求項27に記載の偏光干渉フィルタ。 29.前記第2の偏光子の後方に配置されている第3の直線偏光子と、前記第3 の偏光子及び第2の偏光子の間に配置されている第3の受動位相子とを有する請 求項27に記載の偏光干渉フィルタ。 30.請求項28に記載の偏光干渉フィルタと、前記第2の受動位相子及び第2 の偏光子の間に配置され、かつ第1の偏光子に平行配向または直交配向されてい る第3の受動位相子と、第4の受動位相子とを有し、同第4の受動位相子は第2 の受動位相子と同じリターダンスを有し、かつ第3の受動位相子及び第2の偏光 子の間に配置され、さらには第1の偏光子に対して±45度で配向されているス プリット素子フィルタ。 31.請求項1に記載の回転子スイッチと、同回転子スイッチの前方に配置され 、かつ0度で配向されている第1の直線偏光子とを有する偏光スイッチ。 32.β=90度である請求項31に記載の偏光スイッチ。 33.請求項32に記載の偏光スイッチと、前記回転子スイッチの後方に配置さ れ、かつ第1の偏光子に対して平行配向または直交配向された第2の直線偏光子 とを有し、前記第1の偏光子または第2の偏光子はカラー偏光子であるカラー・ フィルタ。 34.前記カラー偏光子は多色直線偏光子である請求項33に記載のカラー・フ ィルタ。 35.前記カラー偏光子はニュートラル直線偏光子と、同直線偏光子及び回転子 スイッチの間に配置された位相子スタックとを有し、同スタック内の位相子の数 量と、各位相子のリターダンス及び配向とは、加法原色スペクトルを第1の偏光 軸に沿って伝搬し、コンプリメンタリー減法原色スペクトルを第2の直交偏光軸 に沿って伝搬すべく設定されている請求項33に記載のカラー・フィルタ。 36.前記第1の偏光子及び第2の偏光子はそれぞれカラー偏光子である請求項 33に記載のカラー・フィルタ。 37.前記第2の偏光子の後方に配置された第2の回転子スイッチと、同第2の 回転子スイッチの後方に配置され、かつ第1の偏光子に平行配向または直交配向 されている第3の直線偏光子とを有する請求項33に記載のカラー・フィルタ。 38.前記第3の偏光子はカラー偏光子である請求項37に記載のカラー・フィ ルタ。 39.請求項4に記載の回転子スイッチ及び1/4波長位相子を有し、同1/4 波長位相子が前記回転子スイッチの後方に配置され、かつ前記直線偏光に対して 45度で配向されている左右像スイッチ。 40.請求項39に記載の左右像スイッチと、前記1/4波長位相子の後方に配 置されている第1のコレステリック円偏光子とを有するカラー・フィルタ。 41.前記第1のコレステリック・カラー偏光子の後方に配置されている第2の コレステリック・カラー偏光子を有する請求項40に記載のカラー・フィルタ。 42.0度に配向された直線偏光を受け入れ、かつ同受け入れた光を角度β回転 させる色消し偏光回転子スイッチであって、 前記直線偏光に対してα1=β/4+(−1)nε−nπ/4で配向された第1 の液晶可変位相子と、前記nが非負の整数であり、前記εが小角であることと、 前記第1の位相子に連続して配置された第2の液晶可変位相子と、同第2の液 晶可変位相子が前記直線偏光に対してα2=3β/4−(−1)nε+nπ/4で 配向されていることと、 前記第1の可変位相子及び第2の可変位相子のリターダンスはゼロ及び半波長 リターダンスの間で同時切替え可能であること を含む色消し偏光回転子スイッチ。 43.0≦ε≦5度である請求項42に記載の回転子スイッチ。 44.0≦ε≦3度である請求項43に記載の回転子スイッチ。 45.β=90度である請求項42に記載の回転子スイッチ。 46.β=45度である請求項42に記載の回転子スイッチ。 47.前記第1の液晶位相子及び第2の液晶位相子はホモジニアス配向したネマ チック液晶位相子、ネマチックπ−セル液晶位相子及びホメオトロピック配向し たスメクチック液晶位相子からなるグループから選択される請求項42に記載の 回転子スイッチ。 48.前記第1の液晶位相子及び第2の液晶位相子はそれぞれネマチックπ−セ ル液晶位相子である請求項42に記載の回転子スイッチ。 49.請求項42に記載の回転子スイッチと、同回転子スイッチの前方に配置さ れ、かつ0度で配向されている第1の直線偏光子と、前記回転子スイッチの後方 に配置されている第2の直線偏光子とを有する色消しシャッター。 50.前記第2の偏光子は第1の偏光子に対して平行配向または直交配向されて いる請求項49に記載の色消しシャッター。 51.β=90度である請求項50に記載の色消しシャッター。
