Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable smooth assembling of rocker panels even if dispersion at assembly is large. SOLUTION: In this structure, a lateral flange 15c is formed by projection at the end face of a cross member 15 extending in the vehicle width direction and joined to the floor panel top. Rocker panels 8 are disposed to the left and right side faces of the floor panel, extending in the vehicle length direction. A rocker inner 17 of the rocker panel 8 is formed to have an upper wall 17b bending and extending inward continuously from a vertical flange 17a, and a side wall 17c extending downward continuously from the upper wall 17b. The rocker inner 17 is assembled in the direction A from the vehicle exterior so that the upper wall 17b abuts the lateral flange 15c. The recessed bead 20 is formed to the lateral flange 15c. To the side wall 17c, a projection 21 is formed by expansion to have a slant guide surface 21a to which the bead 20 is abutted. Further, at the upper wall 17b, a recess 22 to which the bead 20 is engaged is formed so that it runs in a line with the guide surface 21a.

The cross member 53 has a hat-shaped cross section, and has an end flange 53b formed at the left and right ends thereof, following the horizontal flange 53a. Further, the rocker inner 52 forms an upper wall portion 52b that is bent inward and extends on the upper vertical flange 52a, and subsequently forms a side wall portion 52c that extends slightly curved downward.
2c, a lower vertical flange 52d is formed. Then, the horizontal flange 53a of the cross member 53 is spot-welded to the upper wall portion 52b of the rocker inner 52, and the end face flange 53b is spot-welded to the side wall portion 52c (see, for example, JP-A-6-144298).

According to the present invention, there is provided a cross member joined to an upper surface of a floor panel and having a lateral flange projecting from an end face of the cross member extending in the vehicle width direction. A rocker panel extending from the rocker panel, the rocker inner of the rocker panel has a shape having an upper wall portion extending inwardly following the vertical flange and a side wall portion extending downward following the upper wall portion. In a rocker panel mounting structure for an automobile, which is mounted so that the lateral flange of the cross member abuts on the upper wall portion from the outside, a concave bead portion is formed at least at a leading edge of the lateral flange, A convex portion having an inclined guide surface with which the bead comes into contact with the upper edge portion of the side wall portion is bulged, and a concave portion with which the bead portion is engaged with the upper wall portion is connected to the guide surface. It is characterized in that formed on so that.

In order to assemble the rocker panel of the present invention, the rocker inner fixed to the jig is assembled to the cross member from outside the vehicle. If the rocker inner has a variation in the vertical direction during this assembling, the bead portion of the cross member contacts the guide surface of the rocker inner, and when the rocker inner is pushed in this state, the bead moves along the guide surface, As soon as it gets over the guide surface, it engages with the recess. As a result, the horizontal flange is fitted to the upper wall portion, and thereafter, the two are spot-welded.

As described above, according to the mounting structure of the present invention,
Since a bead portion was formed on the lateral flange of the cross member and a convex portion having a guide surface was formed on the side wall portion of the rocker inner, if there was a variation in the vertical direction when assembling the rocker inner, the tip of the bead portion was first placed. By abutting on the guide surface and sliding along the guide surface, variations can be absorbed, thereby providing an effect that the assembling work can be performed smoothly. In this case, since only the tip of the bead portion abuts, the sliding resistance can be reduced as compared with the case where the abutment abuts over the entire front edge of the horizontal flange, and the assembling can be performed smoothly from this point as well.

Since the guide surface is formed on the side wall portion of the rocker inner, it is possible to cope with a large variation in the vertical direction. Further, since the guide surface and the concave portion of the upper wall portion are continuous, the bead portion has a guide surface. And at the same time, engages with the concave portion, whereby the positioning between the horizontal flange and the upper wall portion can be reliably performed, and from this point, the assembling work can be performed smoothly.
