Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.1対の端末部(12,16)に接続された1対の自由端を有する導電性抵抗 加熱部材(14)より成る、流体を加熱するための加熱要素にして、前記抵抗加 熱部材は加熱すべき流体に接触している自立重合体部材(30)内で密封状かつ 電気的に絶縁され、前記抵抗加熱部材は前記重合体部材を介して前記流体を前記 重合体部材を融解することなしに所望の温度まで十分加熱することを特徴とする 前記加熱要素。 2.前記重合体部材がコアを含む請求項1の加熱要素。 3.前記抵抗加熱部材は少なくとも1個の螺旋コイルを含む請求項1の加熱要素 。 4.前記重合体部材は射出成形したコアを含む請求項1の加熱要素。 5.前記コアは前記流体を受け取り通過させる少なくとも1個の貫通孔を含む請 求項2の加熱要素。 6.タンク中の前記流体を加熱するため前記加熱要素を前記タンクの壁に取り付 けた請求項1の加熱要素。 7.前記重合体コアの形状は並列した溝をその上に有する管状である請求項2の 加熱要素。 8.前記抵抗加熱部材は前記並列溝中に配設した螺旋コイルを含む請求項7の加 熱要素。 9.前記重合体部材は流体コンテナの側壁の少なくとも1部を含む請求項1の加 熱要素。 10.前記加熱要素は約1,000ワットから約6,000ワットを発生して前記流 体を少なくとも約49℃(120°F)の温度に加熱する請求項1の加熱要素。 11.前記流体が水である請求項10の加熱要素。 12.前記加熱要素は約100ワットから約1,200ワットの熱を発生して気体 状流体を加熱する請求項1の加熱要素。 13.前記加熱要素は空気又は水のような流体の加熱に関連して使用されるタンク の壁を介して配設されるようになっており、前記重合体コアは端部開口を有する 内部管状第1端部、前記端部開口に隣接して配設された空洞、及びフランジ 付第2端部を含み、前記抵抗加熱部材は前記重合体コア上に巻き付けられて前記 管状第1端部に沿って前記流体中に延びる螺旋コイルであり、重合体被覆が該螺 旋コイルの上をおおって配設された請求項2の加熱要素。 14.前記重合体部材は約0.10cm(0.04インチ)から約1.27cm(0.5インチ)の厚 さを有する請求項1の加熱要素。 15.前記熱可塑性重合体部材はポリアリール-スルフォン、ポリイミド、ポリエ ーテルエーテルケトン、ポリフェニレンスルファイド、シリコン、ポリエーテル スルフォン、液晶重合体及びこれらの混合物及び共重合体から選択した樹脂を含 む請求項1の加熱要素。 16.前記重合体部材は該重合体部材の熱伝導性を改善する添加剤を含有する請求 項1の加熱要素。 17.前記重合体部材は該重合体の重量基準で約5%から40%の添加剤を含有し て前記重合体層を補強する請求項1の加熱要素。 18.前記加熱要素は開放端と閉塞端を有する管を有し、前記閉塞端はねじ込みフ ランジコネクタを有する請求項1の加熱要素。 19.前記重合体部材はポリフェニレンスルファイド又は液晶重合体を含む請求項 1の加熱要素。 20.請求項1の加熱要素を含む水加熱機。 21.前記重合体被覆と前記重合体コアが93.3℃(200°F)の温度より高 い融点を有する共通熱可塑性材料を含む請求項13の加熱要素。 22.前記重合体被覆の一部が前記螺旋コイル上に約1.27cm(0.5インチ)未満の 厚さで成形された請求項14の加熱要素。 23.前記重合体被覆部分が約0.254cm(0.1インチ)の厚さである請求項16の加 熱要素。 24.前記重合体コアがガラス、グラファイト、又はポリアミドファイバを含む請 求項13の加熱要素。 25.水を収容するためのタンク、及び前記タンクの壁を介して取り付けられ前記 タンク中の水の一部を電気抵抗によって加熱する加熱要素を含む水加熱機にして 、該加熱要素は通電されると前記水の一部を加熱することができる導電性抵 抗加熱部材、及び前記抵抗加熱部材と接触しかつ前記水と接触し前記抵抗加熱部 材を前記水から電気的に絶縁する重合体密封材料を含み、該重合体密封材料は前 記抵抗加熱部材から自立する構造でありかつ前記抵抗加熱部材により発生した熱 を前記水に効率的に伝達して融解なしに前記水の温度を少なくとも49℃(12 0°F)に上昇させることを特徴とする、前記水加熱機。 26.前記タンクは重合体から成る請求項25の水加熱機。 27.前記加熱要素は開放端及び閉鎖端を有し、前記閉鎖端はねじ込みフランジコ ネクタを含む請求項25の水加熱機。 28.前記ねじ込みフランジコネクタは重合体から成る請求項27の水加熱機。 29.前記重合体材料は射出成形した熱可塑性重合体から成る請求項25の水加熱 機。 30.前記重合体材料はポリフェニレンスルファイドから成る請求項25の水加熱 機。 31.流体媒体を抵抗加熱する方法にして、(a)通電されると前記流体媒体を加熱 することができる導電性抵抗加熱部材を含む電気抵抗加熱要素、及び前記抵抗加 熱部材を一体的に封入しかつ自立させこれにより前記抵抗加熱部材をして前記流 体媒体中に延出させると共に前記流体媒体によって実質的に包囲されるようにす る重合体材料を準備し、(b)前記加熱要素をタンクの壁に埋めると共に前記流体 媒体中に浸し、これにより、前記抵抗加熱部材によって発生し前記重合体材料を 介して伝達された熱を吸収しつつ、該流体媒体を前記重合体材料に直接接触させ て前記重合体材料をその融点以下に維持することを特徴とする前記方法。 32.前記重合体材料は射出によって成形される請求項31の方法。 33.前記要素は前記流体媒体を受け入れる開放端を有し、前記流体媒体は前記要 素の内側及び外側部の両方上の前記重合体材料からの熱を吸収する請求項32の 方法。
