Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a self-adhesive tape which adheres well to a coating film when used for masking it and requires a small rewinding force by incorporating a polyisocyanate as the adhesive component and a release agent based on a long-chain-alkyl compd. as the release component into a backside layer on a substrate. SOLUTION: This self-adhesive tape comprises a substrate, a self-adhesive layer formed on one side of the substrate, and a backside layer formed on the other side. The backside layer contains 100 pts.wt. polyisocyanate as the adhesive component and 1-2,000 pts.wt. release agent based on a long-chain alkyl compd. as the release component, has a thickness of 0.1-20μm, and if necessary, may further contain 1-100 pts.wt. binder component comprising at least one polymer selected from among acrylic copolymers, polyester resins, urethane resins, natural rubbers, and synthetic rubbers.

2. Description of the Related Art As one of uses of an adhesive tape, there has been known a use of applying an adhesive tape to an unpainted portion of an adherend and peeling it after completion of a painting operation, so-called masking. Also, usually
The pressure-sensitive adhesive tape is wound in a roll and stored, and in this state, the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer is superimposed on the back surface of the tape (the surface opposite to the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer forming surface of the base material). At the time of use, the adhesive tape is rewound. Generally, the smaller the rewound force is, the better the workability is. For this reason, the back surface of the adhesive tape is subjected to a peeling treatment.

[0003] When the adhesive tape is used for masking the coating, the coating partially adheres to the back surface of the adhesive tape after the coating is completed. Conventional adhesive tapes have poor adhesion to the paint on the back of the tape, so when such adhesive tape is peeled off from the adherend, the paint peels off from the adhesive tape, and this peeled paint is applied to the adherend. There was a problem that it adhered to the part and the appearance became poor. In particular, the tendency was remarkable in the pressure-sensitive adhesive tape in which the peeling treatment was performed on the back surface of the tape as described above.

The mixing ratio between the paint adhesion component and the release component is preferably 1 to 2000 parts by weight, more preferably 10 to 1 part by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the paint adhesion component.
000 parts by weight. When the amount of the release component is less than 1 part by weight, the rewinding force of the obtained pressure-sensitive adhesive tape may be increased and the workability may be reduced. On the other hand, when the amount exceeds 2,000 parts by weight, the content ratio of the adhesion component may decrease. In addition, there is a possibility that the paint adhesion of the obtained pressure-sensitive adhesive tape is reduced.

The pressure-sensitive adhesive tape of the present invention is produced, for example, as follows. First, a paint adhesion component, a release component, and a binder component are mixed as necessary, and the mixture is applied to a substrate.
The back treatment layer is formed by drying. Next, an adhesive is applied to the opposite surface of the base material to form an adhesive layer to obtain an adhesive tape.

The thus obtained pressure-sensitive adhesive tape of the present invention has good adhesion to the paint on the back surface of the tape.
When the adhesive tape is peeled off after the coating is completed, the paint adhered to the back surface of the tape is not peeled off, and therefore, there is no problem that the appearance of the painted portion of the adherend is deteriorated. Also, the workability is good because the unwinding force is small. Therefore, it is particularly useful for masking, and is used for all coatings, for example, on automobiles, aircraft, furniture, architecture, and the like.
