Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pinless folding machine capable of increasing quality and reducing the number of parts by cutting a web by one stage. SOLUTION: A pinless folding machine is formed so that a pressing blade 44 is installed on a cutting drum 40 provided with a cutting blade 43 capable of cutting web (a) through the entire width as well as sheet retainers 42a and 42b. Also a holding plate 48 for holding the top end of the web (a) which is pressed by the pressing blade 44 as well as a cutting supporter 46 and a holding jaw 47 are installed on a folding drum 41 which is brought in contact with the cutting drum 40. In addition, the web (a) which passes through the cutting drum 40 and the folding drum 41 is cut by one stage.

2. Description of the Related Art As a pinless folder for a rotary printing press, for example, the one shown in FIGS. 6 and 7 is known. To explain this, reference numeral 1 in FIG. 6 denotes a triangular plate, and a web a (or an unbroken web b) folded into two by the triangular plate 1.
From the pair of first nip rollers 2 and the pair of second nip rollers 3 rotating at the same peripheral speed as the running speed of the web a. Send to device and disconnect.

The speed of the cut web a is rapidly increased by a pair of speed increasing conveyor belts 6, 6 'guided by a pair of guide rollers 15, 15', so that the leading edge of the preceding sheet and the trailing sheet are succeeded. To form a gap S between them (see FIG. 7), and hold the leading end 18 of the succeeding sheet by the claws 8 of the folding cylinder 7 without causing the leading end 18 to interfere with the trailing edge of the preceding sheet. .

[0005] However, such a pinless folding machine includes:
There were the following problems. That is, after the web a is cut, the web a is accelerated more rapidly than the traveling speed of the web a (increased by about 15 to 40%). The end of the protruding paper is likely to be broken at both ends.
Further, the paper is liable to be inclined, and a failure such as poor folding accuracy is likely to occur. The web a, which is slid while running while being sandwiched by the speed-increasing conveyor belts 6, 6 ', is suddenly fed out (increased speed) after the rear end cutting, so that the position of the leading end of the web a varies, and the leading end of the web a It is difficult for the claws 8 to enter the position where they can be completely determined, and the folding accuracy is low from this point as well. Since the web a is slid between the speed increasing conveyor belts 6 and 6 'before the cutting on the rear side of the web a, the printed pattern on the web a is easily damaged by the belt. The web a is cut while sliding between the speed-up conveyor belts 6 and 6 ', and after cutting, the web a is conveyed while being sandwiched by the speed-up conveyor belts 6 and 6'. Time and skill are required, and the operating rate of the folder decreases. Since the web a is cut while sliding between the speed-up conveyor belts 6 and 6 ′, static electricity is easily generated. If the resistance due to static electricity is not uniform in the width direction of the web a, the web a is twisted and folded. Is oblique to the paper edge, and it is difficult to correct the posture and arrangement of the signatures discharged to the paper discharge conveyor 14. If the web a guided by the speed-increasing conveyor belts 6 and 6 'toward the folding cylinder 7 is jammed between the speed-increasing conveyor belts 6 and 6', it takes a lot of time to remove the web a. Therefore, the operating rate of the folding machine decreases. Since the leading end of the web a with increased speed is held by a plurality of claws 8 arranged in a line in the paper width direction of the folding cylinder 7 with the increased speed, the web a is protruded from both ends of the claw 8 at both ends. In addition to the above, tearing due to swelling of the paper edge in the paper width direction between the nails 8 easily occurs. Further, since the central portion of the cut sheet is folded in a state where the speed of the folding cylinder 7 and the gripping cylinder 10 is increased, the folding accuracy is deteriorated, and it is easy to win. The above phenomenon of ~ items, as the folding machine speeds up,
It gets worse.

At this time, there is no interference in the vicinity of the side surface of the claw seat 33 of the folding cylinder 23, so that the leading end of the web a can be pushed into the folding cylinder 23 without any trouble. According to this, it is not necessary to slide the web a between the speed-up conveyor belts as in the above-described single-speed pinless folding machine, so that a printed pattern such as a scratch on the printed pattern on the web a can be prevented. Do not cause. In addition, the generation of static electricity is small, the folding accuracy can be improved, and the posture of the paper discharged onto the paper discharge conveyor 14 can be easily corrected. Further, since it is not necessary to increase the speed of the web a by the speed-up conveyance belt, there is no need to adjust the belt pressure, so that paper jams can be almost eliminated and the operation rate can be improved. And the like.

However, the above-mentioned conventional pinless folding machine has the following problems. That is, since the cutting process (two-stage cutting) is performed twice,
The cut surface becomes uneven [see FIG. 5 (d)], and the paper is likely to be jammed in a post-process (delivery), and the paper alignment in the paper stacking and binding device (referred to as a stacker bundler) is poor. Even if a phase adjustment mechanism is configured between the first cutting and the second cutting so that the cut surface does not become uneven, the cutting phase may be changed due to a difference in the state of the paper due to a difference between low and high speeds and a change in the movement of the paper due to a change in the paper quality. Adjustment is required when the machine starts up and when the speed is increased, which is troublesome and increases the amount of waste paper. The first cutting cylinder, the second cutting cylinder, the pressing cylinder for the leading end and many components make maintenance and management cumbersome and increase the size of the apparatus.

In the above embodiment, the holding blades 44 and the holding plates 48 are arranged in a staggered manner in the paper width direction. However, the holding blades 44 are formed short so as to obtain only a trigger for pressing the leading end of the web a.
It is not necessary to make a staggered arrangement if it does not interfere with. Of course, since there is no transport belt as in the conventional case, the pressing blade 44 and the holding plate 48 may be a single plate.

As described above, according to the present invention, the first cylinder is provided with the pressing blade, and the paper pressed by the pressing blade is held in the second cylinder in contact with the first cylinder. In the pinless folding machine provided with a claw member for the first and second cylinders, a paper pressing member is attached to the first and second cylinders, and a cutting blade capable of cutting over the entire width of the paper is provided on one of the cylinders. The paper fed between the first and second cylinders is cut by one step, so that quality can be improved and the number of parts can be reduced.
