That is, in the liquid crystal display module including the liquid crystal display panel, the backlight, and their driving circuits, the EL panel 15 is attached as a backlight to a portion corresponding to the display area 6 on the back side of the liquid crystal display panel 1. The EL panel 1 is provided on the rear surface side of
5 is provided with an inverter 7 which is a driving circuit of the liquid crystal display panel 1 and a semiconductor chip 5 which is a driving circuit of the liquid crystal display panel 1 on a portion other than the display area 6 on the surface side of the liquid crystal display panel 1, that is, on the surface side of the projection 4 of the transparent substrate 3. Since the liquid crystal display module is directly mounted, the size and thickness of the entire liquid crystal display module are greatly promoted. Further, according to this liquid crystal display module, the mounting work of the liquid crystal display module with the EL panel becomes extremely simple as compared with the conventional case where the inverter 7 for driving the EL panel is incorporated into the motherboard separately from the liquid crystal display module. The product in which the liquid crystal display module is incorporated is greatly reduced in size and thickness. Further, the transparent substrates 2, 3
Is formed from a resin film, the entire liquid crystal display device can be further reduced in thickness. Further, since the entire surface of the EL panel 15 is adhered to the liquid crystal display panel 1 via the adhesive 16, a minute vibration generated when the EL panel 15 emits light is absorbed by the adhesive, and the occurrence of abnormal noise is reduced. Can be reduced. Further, since the pigment for adjusting the display color is dispersed and mixed in the adhesive 16 which adheres the EL panel 15 to the back surface of the liquid crystal display panel 1, a desired color different from the color of the light emitted from the EL panel 15 is obtained. The display color can be obtained. Separately from the adhesive, a pigment layer as a color adjustment layer for obtaining a desired display color is formed on the front surface or the back surface of the flexible film substrate 15a in the EL panel 15 of FIG. It may be formed thereon by a printing method or the like. In this case, if the region where the pigment layer is to be formed is partially selected, the display color can be partially changed. Furthermore, the display colors can be further diversified by selectively forming the pigment layers at a plurality of locations and making the colors of the pigment layers different from each other. By the way, when the pigment is directly added to the EL layer 15c, the color may change with the lapse of time.

Then, the number of parts can be reduced. Furthermore, if the printed circuit board 9 of the inverter 7 is formed of a flexible wiring board, the connection with the EL panel 15 can be made directly, and the connection pins 19 can be omitted. Further, in the above embodiment, the present invention is applied to the liquid crystal display device, but is not limited to this, and can be applied to other display devices.
