Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain feed for breeding fishes which contains a prescribed amount of iodine (or iodine compound), can prevent and treat the infections of cultured fish without causing problems on the body residue and drug resistance and is useful for yellowtails and eels with improved rate of rearing. SOLUTION: For example, iodine or an iodine compound, for example, potassium iodide, potassium iodate or calcium iodide in an amount of 0.1-1% is added to a basic feed formulated with 71.3% of fish meal, 25.5% of wheat flour and 3.2% of vitamins and minerals (containing 0.2mg% of iodine). In a preferred embodiment, this feed for fish breeding is molded into pellets of 1-2mm size.

2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, saltwater fish such as yellowtail, Thailand, and flounder, and freshwater fish such as eel, trout, carp, and ayu have been actively cultivated. The economic loss due to death is extremely large, which is a problem in the aquaculture industry. The infectious diseases include bacterial diseases such as bacterial gill disease and eromonas disease, and viral diseases such as IHN and iridvirus. At present, various antibiotics, antibacterial agents such as sulfa drugs are used for the prevention and treatment of these diseases, but the effect is not always sufficient, and in recent years antibacterial agents such as antibiotics have not been effective in vivo. The effects on the human body are considered to be a problem due to residual substances and the emergence of drug-resistant bacteria, and they are being limited as much as possible.

Example 1: (Example of feeding high-iodine feed to juvenile rainbow trout) Fish meal 71.3%, wheat flour 25.5%, vitamins and minerals (containing iodine 0.2 mg%) 3.2% were mixed. Iodine or potassium iodide was added to the prepared basic feed in an amount of 0.1 to 1% to produce a pellet crumble of 1 to 2 mm, and 1500 larvae of rainbow trout having an average weight of 0.8 g (n: fishpond = 3) were prepared. Using, 19 ℃ (optimal water temperature for rainbow trout fry breeding is 10 to 15 ℃ (Japan Fisheries Resource Conservation Association, 1972))
The breeding test was carried out for 28 days under the high water temperature condition. The rainbow trout in the control group was fed with only the basic feed.

As shown in Table 1 of the test results, bacterial gill disease occurred in the rainbow trout in the control group during the test period and the breeding rate was remarkably inferior, but the rainbow trout juvenile fed with the high iodine feed showed no disease. No occurrence was observed, and all of the invention plots showed a high growth rate of 98% or more, and the protective effect against bacterial gill disease was confirmed.

Example 2: (Example of feeding high-iodine feed to sweetfish affected by Aeromonas) Fish meal 71.3%, wheat flour 25.5%, vitamins and minerals (containing iodine 0.2 mg%) 3.2 % Of potassium iodide was added to the basic feed with 3%
A pellet crumble of m was produced, and a breeding test for 14 days was carried out using 900 auromonas-affected ayu (n = 3 ponds) having an average weight of 18 g. In addition, only the basic feed was fed to the control sweetfish. The cumulative mortality rate of sweetfish due to the infection with Aeromonas was significantly low in the invention group (P <0.05, t-test), and the recovery effect on Aeromonas was confirmed. Table 2 shows the results.

Example 3: (Example of feeding high-iodine feed to eel) 0.1% potassium iodide was added to a commercially available eel feed (containing 0.2 mg% iodine) to give an average body weight of 0.2 g. A breeding test was carried out for 176 days using 1,200 glass eels (n = 3 fish farm). In addition, the glass eels in the control group were fed with only the commercially available feed. No major disease was observed during the test period, but the growth rate after the test tended to be superior in the invention group. The results are shown in Table 3.
