Abstract

PURPOSE: To measure comfortableness provided by massage objectively, quantitatively and easily by using, as an indication, sedation in activity of sympathetic nerve or promotion in activity of parasympathetic nerve. CONSTITUTION: Temperature on the surface of human body changes according to the level of massage, i.e., desirable or undesirable massage. Namely, desirable massage raises the temp. even at a part where direct massage is not applied while undesirable massage does not generate such a phenomenon. By utilizing the phenomenon, change in the temp. on the body surface is observed through the thermography. The temp. rises in the parts where the massage is given and not given is measured, and thereby whether temp. rise is generated on the not-given part or not is detected. Desirable massage raises the temp. of the not-massaged part obviously and thus comfortableness is measured and detected through the temp. rise on the body surface.

2. Description of the Related Art Comfort is an important factor for humans to carry out social life, and accurate knowledge of it is significant for improving human life. However, there is no measurement value that correlates well with this, and in order to know comfort, we ask the subject to ask us through a questionnaire, measure behaviors such as brain waves with a large device, and change immune function. I had no choice but to measure. But,
I cannot help saying that the answers from the questionnaire lack objectivity. This is because the questionnaire depends on the subject's sensory scale. Further, the measurement of the behavior of the electroencephalogram requires experience for its analysis, and its quantitativeness has a problem. The measurement of immunocompetence has a drawback that the procedure is complicated.

(1) Effect of Comfort The effect of comfort was investigated using massage. That is, in the previous study by the present inventors (Japanese Patent Application No. 7-
No. 31772) A massage was performed using a massage fee that can provide a comfortable massage and a massage fee that can provide only a less comfortable massage, and the measured values before and after the massage were compared. As a result, a sympathetic nerve activity index (LF / HF) showing the function of the sympathetic nerve obtained by analyzing the waveform obtained from the electrocardiogram by a comfortable massage
Is decreased from 0.48 (before massage) to 0.24 (after massage), sympathetic nerve activity is sedated, accessory nerve activity is promoted, and in uncomfortable massage, sympathetic nerve activity index is 0.54 ( It was found that the sedation of the sympathetic nerve was not promoted as much as before (before massage) and 0.47 (after massage). The inventors of the present invention have described the above-mentioned Japanese Patent Application No. 7-31.
When these massage charges were evaluated by the method described in No. 772, the comfortable massage charge was s-Ig.
Secretion of A increased by 23%, whereas the latter increased only by 9%. That is, it was found that the former was a comfortable massage and the latter was a less comfortable massage. It was revealed that a more comfortable massage calms sympathetic nerve activity.

The present inventors have found that the sympathetic nerve activity index (LF /
HF) is measured only by measuring the electrocardiogram, and complicated mathematical calculation processing cannot be obtained. Therefore, the calculation is complicated. Therefore, a numerical value that correlates well with these and can be easily measured is obtained and studied. When we repeated, we found that the change in body surface temperature was such a numerical value. Regarding the relationship between body surface temperature and massage, it is known that the body surface temperature increases due to friction at the massage site, but there is no known increase in body surface temperature at the site that is not massaged. . What is used as a representative value of the present invention is the body surface temperature of the part that is not massaged.

(2) Method for measuring body surface temperature The body surface temperature may be measured by ordinary temperature measuring means, for example, a precise thermometer, thermocouple, color change of liquid crystal, thermography, etc. Just do it. In this case, what is necessary is to measure the body surface temperature so that the body surface temperature is not affected. In this sense, thermographic measurement is preferred. Also, in measuring the body surface temperature, not only the minute part,
It is preferable to capture changes in the entire body surface, and therefore it is better to make a thermograph in a range as wide as possible and obtain it by pattern analysis. As a method of pattern analysis, it is also possible to calculate the rate of change in volume strictly from three-dimensional coordinates of plane coordinates and temperature, but it is sufficient to evaluate the temperature change simply with the naked eye and based on a reference. Can be used for. Even if such a judgment is used, quantitativeness is not impaired.
In addition, at this time, it is better to exclude a portion that has been massaged or the like and whose temperature has changed due to friction from the measurement site.

(3) Relationship between body surface temperature and comfort The changes in body surface temperature of the above-mentioned examples of comfortable massage and uncomfortable massage were examined. The change in the body surface temperature was measured by using a thermography, and the obtained image was visually evaluated by ++: marked increase, +: clear increase, ±: slight increase, 0-no change, −: slight decrease, −− : Clear decrease, ---: Significant decrease was evaluated by 7 grades. In the case of a comfortable massage, both the rubbing part (face) and the non-rubbing part (back of the hand) were evaluated as ++, but in the uncomfortable massage, the rubbing part was ++ and the non-rubbing part was ±. From this, by giving a comfortable massage,
It can be seen that the body surface temperature is rising even in the area where the massage is not performed directly. From this, it can be seen that a comfortable body weight, that is, the comfort and the body surface temperature are well correlated.

Example 1 Evaluation of Massage Brush The present inventors invented a brush capable of providing comfort and applied for a patent (Japanese Patent Application No. 7-84357), but this brush (comfort brush) and this brush The body hair temperature of the friction part (face) and non-rubbing part (back of hand) was massaged for 3 minutes using a brush (uncomfortable brush) in which the animal hair part was changed to uncomfortable hard polyethylene (thermography) Was measured. With the naked eyes of the obtained image, ++: remarkable increase, +: clear increase, ±: slight increase, 0-no change, −: slight decrease, −: slight decrease, −−−: significant decrease. The results of the 7-step evaluation are as follows:
The comfort brush was + and the discomfort brush was ±. The face was 0 in all cases. A diagram in which the thermograph is replaced with black and white is shown in FIG. As for LF / HF, the pleasant brush is 0.51 (before massage) → 0.30 (after massage) and the unpleasant brush is 0.52 (before massage) → 0.4.
It was 9 (after massage).

Example 3 Examination by Body Massage Using a commercially available massage machine, changes in body surface temperature when the back was massaged with an appropriate intensity and when it was massaged excessively strongly were observed by thermography. The observation sites were the face and the back of the hand. The observation method was in accordance with Examples 1 and 2. As a result, a moderate massage was ++ for both the face and the back of the hand, and an excessively strong massage was 0 for the face and-for the back of the hand. FIG. 2 shows a diagram of thermography converted into black and white. From this, it can be seen that comfort and body surface temperature are well correlated. It is also apparent that the face can be used as the measurement site when no friction is applied.
