Therefore, according to the cushion material mounting structure of this embodiment, the two engaging portions 1 having the head portion 14b having a diameter larger than that of the base end portion 14a at the tip of the cylindrical base end portion 14a.
4 and the circular insertion hole 13 are fitted to each other, the cushion member 5 is used as a reference for the rail leg portion 3 with respect to the engagement portion 14 as compared with the conventional attachment method using the double-sided tape. As a result, it can be easily attached to the regular position in a short time. In addition, in the case where the double-sided tape is used for attachment, the cushion material 5 attached to the rail leg portions 3 may be peeled off or displaced during the handling until the roof rail 1 is attached to the roof panel 5. According to this, the occurrence of such a problem can be prevented.

Next, another embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. In this embodiment, as shown in FIG. 7, the insertion hole 13 formed in the attachment surface 10 of the rail leg portion 3 is formed in a slit shape, and one insertion hole 13 is formed.
The longitudinal direction is the front-rear direction, and the other insertion hole 13 has the longitudinal direction the left-right direction. On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 8, the engaging portion 14 projectingly provided on the cushion material 5 is formed in a substantially rectangular column shape, and, as shown in FIGS. 9A and 9B, its base end portion 14a. Has a width substantially equal to the width of the insertion hole 13 and is free in the longitudinal direction of the insertion hole 13.

As a result, the cushion member 5 attached to the rail leg portions 3 is regulated in the front-rear direction by the one engagement portion 14 and in the left-right direction by the other engagement portion 14. Further, the head portion 14b of the engaging portion 14 is formed on a tapered surface protruding in the width direction of the insertion hole 13 and is locked to the widthwise edge of the insertion hole 13. Therefore, according to another aspect of the above-described configuration, in addition to the same operational effects as those of the above-described embodiment, the insertion hole is formed by the degree of freedom in the longitudinal direction of the insertion hole 13 formed in the slit shape. Thirteen
Therefore, it becomes possible to absorb the variation in the processing accuracy of the engaging portion 14.

In the illustrated embodiment, the case where the two engaging portions 14 are provided for attaching the cushion material 5 has been described, but the number of engaging portions 14 may be one. Alternatively, the head portion 14b of the engagement portion 14 may be omitted, and the engagement state may be maintained by utilizing the friction between the base end portion 14a and the fitting surface of the insertion hole 13. Furthermore, the engagement portion 14 according to another embodiment is also realized by changing from a prismatic shape to a cylindrical shape.

As described in detail above, according to the inventions of claims 1 to 3, since the cushion material can be easily attached to the regular position of the roof rail, the attachment work time is shortened and the work efficiency is improved. To do. Further, when the head of the engaging portion is used to prevent the cushion from coming off, it is possible to prevent the cushioning material from peeling or shifting, and when the insertion hole is formed into a slit shape, the degree of freedom along the slit of the engaging portion allows It is possible to absorb variations in processing accuracy regarding the mounting portion.
